With vigilantes on the loose, vote as early as possible — so if you're challenged, you'll have time to contest the challenge and, in some states, re-register. In Wisconsin, Nevada, Michigan and other states, you can re-register on Election Day. Demand a registration form AND a “regular” ballot.

Think you're registered to vote? Think again. With all this purg'n going on, you could be x'd out and you won't know it. Check online right now at Vote.gov.

Don't Go Postal — Unless You Must

1 in 7 mail-in ballots are disqualified for picayune errors — including postage due. But mail in your ballot if you can't appear in person. Fill out the ballot carefully. Some states allow you to track the status of your mail-in ballot.

Avoid the Provisional “Placebo” Ballot

If you've been purged or challenged, you'll be handed a “provisional” ballot — what I call a “placebo” ballot. You think you've voted, but you haven't. The Federal Elections Assistance Commission reports that in the 2016 presidential election, 2.7 million provisional ballots were not counted.
